Sauvignon Blanc, Colombard and Gros Manseng
Suitable for Vegans
Gascony is one of our favourite parts of France. Excellent food, friendly people, lots of sunshine, and inspiring views of the Pyrenees. This blend of Colombard, Sauvignon Blanc, and Gros Manseng is an elegant but lipsmackingly delicious wine. Elisabeth Prataviera is the talented winemaker and the estate has been in her family since the 1920s. Here she's crafted a wine that's vibrant and packed to the rafters with fruit.
West of Toulouse, the Côtes-de-Gascogne appellation is in the South West of France. It has a long wine-growing history and was an area under English rule for almost 300 years from the twelfth century!
The Gascony region is bordered on the south by the Pyrenees mountain range and on the west by the Atlantic coast. It’s a large wine region covered in picturesque rolling hills with maritime pine and cypress trees among mediaeval hilltop towns. Relatively sparsely populated with farming remaining the main industry of the region, it's a peaceful and pretty part of France that offers fantastic value.
While international varieties are made here, it is the local varieties that show the greatest interest, such as Gros Manseng, Petit Manseng, Colombard and Courbu. Good acidity is a staple of the region giving white wines a delicious energy.
Gascony is known as a proud region with a rich food culture - this is the land of foie gras, duck and goose.
