Joséphine et Frédéric Arnaud Côtes du Rhône 2019

AOC Côtes du Rhône

RHONE

Red

Full

14.5

Fruity and Spicy

Syrah

Suitable for Vegans

We’ve been on the hunt for a Syrah based Côtes-du-Rhône for a while, and the team were united in selecting this stunning example. Made by winemakers Joséphine and Frédéric Arnaud, whose vineyards are surrounded by beautiful woodland renowned for its truffles. This is an elegant, fruit focused yet full-bodied red.

+What it tastes like
Packed with generous black and red berried-fruit with a twist of black pepper and spice, so typical of good Syrah. The palate has plentiful, yet silky tannins and an appealing freshness on the finish.
+What it goes with
This would be especially enjoyable with chargrilled or roasted meats, yet equally good with cheese and cornichons.

RHONE

The AOC Côtes du Rhône covers a broad and beautiful area along the Rhone river, (one the wine world’s most important rivers). Eternally popular with wine drinkers and a classic on the menu in French bistros. Grapes have been grown here for more than 2,000 years and there is an enormous variety of wine styles and grape varieties across the region. The area is rich in forests and craggy landscapes and has some stunning towns to visit, such as Orange.

The majority of wines are reds that are fruity, with robust flavours and a touch of spice. Frequently they are blends including Grenache, Syrah, Mourvèdre, and Cinsault. Yet ours at BIB is pure Syrah and is rich in dark fruit and cocoa notes. Less well known and made in much smaller volumes are the tasty white wine blends and rosé.

Next time you’re drinking a glass of Côtes du Rhône perhaps try it with the local creamy Saint - Félicien and tangy Picodon cheese of the region.
