Description
We love a good Malbec, and where better to look than 'The Black Wine of Cahors' - the original origin of the Malbec grape that has found so much success in Argentina. And who better to talk to than Pascal Verhaeghe, the leading vigneron of Cahors, based at the famous Chateau de Cedre, and consultant to up-and-coming estate Chateau Ponzac?
Tasting Notes
Ponzac is up on the limestone terraces (les causse) at around 300m, which brings their wine a wonderful freshness, and bright vibrant black fruit concentration. Succulent and juicy.
If you ever have occasion to put pigeon on the menu, then Cahors is your friend, but it is also superb with game or beef.
