Turkey is blessed with hundreds of indigenous grape varieties, yet very few are seen in the UK. The Paşaeli is a leading light in showcasing the fascinating wines from this lesser-known region. Made from Çalkarası grapes, there is a refreshing savoury tang to this wine, indicative of the altitude in which the grapes were grown, and making it an interesting alternative to the Provence style.
Tasting Notes
A touch of orange rind, fresh cherries and tarragon on the nose. The palate is dry, with wild strawberries, herbs, and a pine nut character on the finish. The presence of light tannins makes it very food friendly.
A good partner to a mezze style platter, halloumi salads or grilled chicken.
