Hacienda Albae Tempranillo 2020

Vino de la Tierra de Castilla

Fruity and Spicy

Suitable for Vegans

Tempranillo is Spain's signature grape, and we have hunted far and wide for a version that delivers all of that lovely seductive soft fruit and gentle oak that we have come to know and love. Hacienda Albae's Tempranillo has been aged in small oak barrels for 6 months and has everything we were looking for.

+What it tastes like
Rather like a young, gently oaky Rioja, this Tempranillo shows a very easy-going strawberry and vanilla character - smooth and voluptuous.
+What it goes with
Superb with grilled food - especially lamb chops - but equally worth trying with tomato-based dishes.

Castilla La Mancha is just southeast of Madrid and is a fascinating region, sparsely populated but covered with vineyards, castles and windmills. It is an area of contrast with dry valley floors and soaring mountain ranges, making it an area of extreme temperature changes.

Winters here are long and cold, then summers are hot and dry - with a local saying, ‘there are nine months of winter, and three months of hell’. However it is a region that is well adapted to making lovely wines at good prices.

Traditionally an area for the white grape, Airen. Today there is much more variety with dynamic producers who have embraced modern winemaking technology making very enjoyable reds from Tempranillo, Syrah, Bobal, Garnacha and Monastrell.

This is the land of hearty stews, thick soups and one of our favourite’s Manchego cheese.
